Bio

Jess Martin is a disabled and non-binary freelance writer based on Kaurna land in Adelaide. They have extensive experience as a theatre and performance critic, which has been published in The Adelaide Review, Witness Performance, and Fest Magazine among others. Over the last year their practice has expanded into poetry. Jess is currently Writer in Residence at The Mill studios in Adelaide, and is programmed as an artist in the upcoming NYWF 2020. Jess’s recent work includes scriptwriting for the joint State Theatre Company SA & ActNow Theatre project Decameron 2.0, teaching poetry workshops, and competing in Slamalamadingdong poetry slam.
